Saturday Neighborhood Outreach and Evangelism

…and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth (Acts 1:8).

As Jesus ascended to heaven, His last instruction to us was to carry His message, the Gospel message to the world. The order of the regions indicated in this verse is no accident. These regions are illustrative of ever widening rings spreading from a rock thrown into a pond. The Gospel is to be carried to the whole world, but that transmission does not start by going to Timbuktu; rather it is to start in our own back yard … our Jerusalem—Mobile.

We have spent much time emphasizing the need to evangelize the lost and carry the Gospel message to the world over the past many months. In fact, this theme has been a resounding tone since my first message series from the book of Titus for it is a prominent theme in that letter. The reason I have continued to assert your need to evangelize is because this is the primary reason that God has left His children upon the earth. If we consider it, there is nothing on earth that we will not participate in which will not be more fully experienced in heaven except for evangelism.

We will be going out into the neighborhoods around our church next Saturday rain or shine to share the good news with those who are literally our ‘Jerusalem,’ our neighbors. We will begin with some coffee, refreshments, and instruction. Following this we will go out for about an hour to go door to door with our new church outreach flyers. This is a great time for you to get your feet wet (hopefully no pun intended).

Additionally, during the last three Equipping Hours in June we will be taking time to learn about and practically participate in evangelism. What better way to see the Lord’s working in your life than to begin by participating in our neighborhood outreach, then honing your evangelism skills during Equipping Hour, and then flying even higher when we go back into our town during our July outreach.

These are the greatest days ahead of us at CFBC, don’t miss being a part of this pivotal and exciting journey.
