Sanctity of Life

One does not have to search long through Scripture to understand the significance God places on human life and particularly the lives of children. The children of Israel were warned not to be like the pagans of Canaan in their idolatry and disregard for the lives of even their own children; “"You shall not behave thus toward the LORD your God, for every abominable act which the LORD hates they have done for their gods; for they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods (De 12:31).” 900 years later when the Lord spoke to Ezekiel of His impending judgements, we find that they had done exactly what the Lord warned not to do; “Moreover, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. . . "You slaughtered My children and offered them up to idols by causing them to pass through [the fire.] (Eze 16:20,21).”” It is easy to see the relationship between the worship of idols and the loss of respect for the sanctity of life even to the destruction of their own children.

Fast forward over 2600 years to a time that we pride ourselves in being civilized and compassionate, and we find ourselves in a country that has slaughtered over 57 million unborn babies in abortion clinics since 1973. In 2011, 1.06 million American women obtained induced abortions; 9,804 of which occurred in Alabama clinics advertised to be “safe, gentle, painless”!

Today we have opportunity to make ourselves aware of this atrocity that blackens the history of this country. Today it is estimated that 1 in 3 women have had at least one abortion! That not only means the sadness of the loss of life of the children, but also the effects that such a deed has on the would-be parents for the rest of their lives. Satan’s mission is to “steal, kill and destroy”. We know that the only true answer is Christ; both to stop abortion and to heal those affected by this destruction.

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) in Mobile, is a faith-based ministry that provides the gospel, information about pregnancy and fetal development, and alternatives to abortion each year to thousands of women. 1,824 minds were changed about terminating their unplanned pregnancy in 2018! They chose life because of the prayers and the willingness of many to get involved with this ministry. Opportunities for ministry exist for both women and men. Sharing the gospel with expectant mothers and fathers or even ministering to those that have been victimized by this easy access medical procedure that was to solve all the problems of life at the time. WRC provides training for those who would desire to become involved in this ministry. It is a great opportunity to share your faith and to help stop the killing of God’s children.
